Former Rep. Randy "Duke" Cunningham (beginning in June 2005)

Cunningham, a Vietnam War fighter ace who may have been the model for Tom Cruise's character in "Top Gun," resigned in November 2005 after pleading guilty to taking more than $2.4 million in bribes from defense contractors. On March 3, 2006, he was sentenced to 8 years, 4 months in prison. Reporting by the Union-Tribune brought Cunningham's dealings to light. Dani was part of a team of reporters covering the story. In 2006, the Union-Tribune won a Pulitzer Prize in national reporting for its coverage of the Cunningham scandal.
