Dani Dodge's "Storytime" was an interactive performance art piece and installation created for West Hollywood’s event "WeHo Reads: Banned Books" in September 2015.
In the piece, Dodge was a librarian at the fictional "Fitzgerald-Orwell Memorial Library." She asked visitors to tell her their story, and then she choose a different passage for each of them from a book that has been banned. The participants then transformed the passages into new stories.
Participants received buttons as a reward, and stories were read aloud twice during the afternoon at 2:45 p.m. and 4:45 p.m. Dodge also read a story that she created from 10 randomly selected passages from banned books.
"WeHo Reads: Banned Books" was a full day of literary and artistic events at the City of West Hollywood.
