Debuted at the L.A. Pride Festival, June 2014
"Inalienable Promises" explored the promises of the government and the promises we make to each other. The installation included a 60-foot-long painting, a video, and a performance in which Dani asked people to tell her promises they've made, and then typed them on a vintage typewriter. Promises kept became part of the art, promises broken were burned.
The installation was part of L.A. Pride 2014's art exhibit, RIOT I, which examined the 1968 Stonewall Riots and subsequent queer civil rights movement through the unique perspectives of Los Angeles-area artists, filmmakers and performers.
The installation measures 21 feet long, 21 feet wide, and 10 feet tall.
