Dani Dodge created "Code" specifically for the Inglewood Public Library. Her intent was to inspire children to consider language in a broader context. "Code" explores language in several ways: symbolic language, artistic language, and even the rarely used Morse code. The piece also symbolizes the richness and beauty that reading brings to our lives.

Code includes more than 300 books that otherwise would have been recycled due to their age and wear. It also includes nearly 400 old, unused eyeglass lenses. The lenses have been painted with abstract symbols, many using the shapes of letters in the alphabet as a starting point.
